Sarah and Tom, South Farm, Royston, Hertfordshire

Wedding Flowers Herts

Sarah and Tom married in the spring a day after the royal wedding, but theirs was a small, low-key informal ceremony with family and friends at South Farm, a working farm where they married in the conservatory and later walked through a wisteria-covered walkway to an excellent barn for the reception . Guests were able to stay at the house, camp or stay in one of several authentic gypsy caravans adjacent to the barn, surrounded by the countryside of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

The couple chose vibrant spring colours using purple, cream and a touch of yellow for sunshine. Sarah wore a simple draped dress and chose a bouquet of avalanche roses, purple lisianthus and lemon freesia for scent. Glass rosebowls on stems were filled with arrangements of similar flowers for the reception tables and the barn walls were decorated either end with a large teardrop arrangement featuring large oriental lilies and a selection of the bridal flowers. A large low arrangement was placed on the top table. Sunshine, friends and family and a relaxed atmosphere in the countryside – who needs Westminster Abbey?
